Steps for Admission to Kingsport Christian Academy: New Students
STEP 1: Look over the KCA website and pray about your decision to enroll in Kingsport Christian Academy. Please note: In order to maintain a safe and effective educational environment, we reserve the right to dismiss from the program any child who is disruptive to the education of other students and to limit admission to any student based on previous disciplinary action by another school. The student must have been in excellent standing in issues of discipline from previous schools in order to be accepted. (Information about admission and school policies can be downloaded from the KCA website. Because of the size of our school and limited resources, we may not be able to accommodate some types of special needs students. (The Administrator along with the KCA Board of Directors make all final decisions in these cases.)
STEP 2: Complete an application. The Online Application for the upcoming school year will be available online in late March or early April each year. Begin at www.kcalions.com and use the “New Student Application” tab at the top of the screen to begin. Detailed instructions for completion and additional information are contained within the online application tool. A non-refundable new student application fee will be required upon submission of the application to the school. To find out more about financial requirements, please visit the “Tuition and Fees” tab on our website to view the “Financial Policies” document for the current school year.
STEP 3: Access the Family Portal, submit an online course request, complete the tuition payment agreement and schedule a “New Family Conference.” Once a student’s application is received and processed, parents will receive instructions via email regarding next steps. Create an online FamilyPortal, set up financial details, schedule your new family conference and submit course requests. (If a desired class is full, you will have several options: 1. Place your child on the waitlist for that particular class, 2. Select another class for your child, or 3. Withdraw your request for the class.)
STEP 4: Attend the New Family Conference. New Family Conferences are scheduled for early June. Both parents and the co-teacher (if different from the parent) are required to attend this meeting. Students in 7th grade and up are encouraged to attend with their parents if at all possible.
STEP 5: Order Books. Consult the KCA Booklist, confirming that you are viewing the booklist for the current school year. Parent purchases for required textbooks, workbooks, etc. are found on this document. Any other supplies (notebooks, paper, graph paper, pencils, highlighters, and the like) will be included on a supply list emailed from your student’s KCA teacher during the summer.
STEP 6: Attend Open House: Lots of important things happen at Open House in August! There will be an orientation meeting for all families which will cover details regarding drop off/pick up, lunch, weather-related schedule changes, etc. This also is an opportunity for you and your student to locate classrooms, meet their teacher and receive a syllabus for their classes. KCA t-shirts and sweatshirts or hoodies are available for purchase and/or pre-order .
